Why Every Ham Radio Operator Should Start Using a YubiKey

Why Every Ham Radio Operator Should Start Using a YubiKey

Protect your online accounts with the strongest security available.

Most of us in the ham radio community understand authentication and secure access. We verify callsigns, protect repeater systems, and double-check everything before transmitting.

Online security works the same way — and a YubiKey gives you a physical, almost unbreakable way to secure your digital identity.

Even if it’s not directly ham-radio

    📻 TIDRADIO TD-H3 – 1 Year Later

I’ve been using the TD-H3 as my daily carry for the past year, and here’s a quick review based on real use:

    👍 What I Like:

Compact and durable – fits in the pocket, holds up well

Color screen – bright and easy to read

USB-C charging – super convenient, charges fast anywhere

Battery life – I get 2+ days per charge

Multi-band receive – VHF, UHF, air band, FM, NOAA, etc.

Bluetooth + app programming – makes updates quick and easy

CHIRP support – works great for bulk edits and backups

    👎 What Could Be Better:

    Scan speed is a bit

CHIRP – Free Radio Programming Software

If you're tired of programming your radio by hand, check out CHIRP – a free, open-source app that works on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

    You can:
Program BaoFeng, Yaesu, Icom, Kenwood, Retevis, and more

Import repeaters, weather, and GMRS channels

Save, edit, and back up your radio settings

    Copy/paste frequencies like a spreadsheet

You’ll need a programming cable, but once you’re set up, it makes life way easier.

    Download it here:
