eBay Restricts Listings of Radio Equipment, but Exempts Ham-Band-Only Gear
The American Radio Relay League (ARRL) is the national association for amateur radio, connecting hams around the U.S. with news, information and resources.

If you buy or sell radios on eBay, you'll want to know about this.

New FCC-related requirements took effect October 13, 2026, affecting how certain radio-transmitting devices can be listed on online marketplaces.

📻 Here's the good news for amateur radio operators:

✅ Radios that operate exclusively on amateur radio frequencies remain exempt from FCC ID listing requirements.

⚠️ VHF/UHF radios capable of transmitting outside amateur bands may require FCC certification to be legally marketed.

✅ Used equipment and certain sellers may qualify for additional exemptions.

The ARRL contacted eBay to clarify the rules, and eBay confirmed the amateur-radio-only exception.

💬 What do you think about these changes? Have you ever purchased or sold amateur radio equipment on eBay?

Let's hear from the ham community! 📡
