Hey @W8FIK ,
What you need is called a hotspot. It lets your FT-70DR connect to digital rooms over the internet, no repeater needed.

Easy ones to buy:

  • -

    AURSINC MMDVM Hotspot

  • -

Zumspot or OpenSpot 3 (if you can find one used)

Want to build one?

  • -

Get a Raspberry Pi Zero W

  • -

Add an MMDVM hat on top

  • -

    Install free software called Pi-Star

Let me know which way you’re leaning — I (or others here) can help you set it up!

well perhaps but i keep hearing that the ft70Dr is the only fusion radio that wont work with a hotspot
so im confused....more

@W8FIK there is some confusion out there about the FT-70DR and hotspots.
The good news: it does work with hotspots like Pi-Star, but only in DN mode (not VW mode), and it has to be set up just right.

Here is a video that might help:

@"W8FIK"#p255 If you have another Yaesu radio that does system fusion and can act as a node, then you are in business. Otherwise, an old FTM 100D can act as one with the HSI-200 and software will do.
